The 15th IEEE Iran Section Awards Ceremony

The IEEE Iran Section annually invites professors, students, and industry professionals to nominate candidates for awards to enhance the scientific and industrial status of electrical and computer engineering in the country. The selected recipients are honored in a ceremony.

The 15^th IEEE Iran Section Awards Ceremony was held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, hosted by the Information and Communication Technology Research Institute (Iran Telecommunication Research Center, ITRC). Over 100 professors, student branch counselors, and students attended the event in the Shahid Atabaki Hall on the second floor of the institute. The ceremony was also broadcast live on Skyroom (a platform for online events).

The ceremony then proceeded with the introduction of the winners and the presentation of plaques and awards as follows:

• Lifetime Teaching Award: Dr. Seyed Jamaluddin Golestani, Professor at Sharif University of Technology
• Lifetime Research Award: Dr. Hassan Bivrani, Professor at Kurdistan University
• Top Entrepreneurs Award: Engineer Mohammad Mehdi Fanaei, Kavir Industrial Group
• Distinguished Engineer Award: Engineer Mahmoud Janatian, CEO of Tehran, Fars, and West Regional Electric Companies
• Prof. Jabehdar Award: Professor Ali Khaki Sedigh, Professor at K.N. Toosi University of Technology
• Prof. Hakkak Award: Professor Mahmoud Shahabadi, Professor at University of Tehran
• Prof. Anvari Award: Dr. Hesham Feili, University of Tehran
• Prof. Caro Lucas Award: Professor Hamid Reza Taghirad, President of K.N. Toosi University of Technology
• Prof. Fakhraei Award: Professor Bijan Rashidian, Professor at Sharif University of Technology
• Young Researcher Award: Dr. Hamzeh Biranvand, Faculty Member at Amirkabir University of Technology
• Women in Engineering Award: Dr. Fataneh Taghi Yareh, University of Tehran
• Outstanding Student Branch Counselor Award: Dr. Azad Rahimi, Faculty Member at Kurdistan National Skills University
• Best Ph.D. Thesis Award - three finalists were selected:

• Dr. Fatemeh Zare, Sharif University of Technology, Supervisor Dr. Zahra Nasiri Gheidari, Winner
• Mr. Mohammad Ali Amirabadi, Iran University of Science and Technology, Supervisor Dr. Mohammad Hossein Kahaei, Honorable Mention
• Mr. Abolfazl Azari, K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Supervisor Dr. Hadi Ali Akbarian, Honorable Mention

• Best M.Sc. Thesis Award - three finalists were selected:
